Story
Home-Start Runnymede and Woking is a charity that provides home-based parenting support to disadvantaged and vulnerable families in our local community. The charity introduces these families to home-visiting volunteers, who are parents themselves and trained to offer emotional and practical help that is free, confidential and non-judgemental. They empower the families to develop strategies to manage their difficulties, enable them to gain confidence in their parenting ability and encourage them to access local services and networks within the wider community. The charity gives high level training to its volunteers and is desperate for more funding in order to help more families in need.

We believe that Home-Start can make an incredible difference to the lives of both parents and young children, and for this reason would like to raise money on this charity's behalf.
In August, we are trekking up to the summit of Kilimanjaro, an expedition which will take 6 days in total. Following the 'Marangu route', our trail goes through rainforest, heath and moorland, and develops into alpine desert and ultimately the arctic zone at the peak. We are unbelievably excited to embark on this trip, but are feeling nervous for what is in store and the challenge of facing such high altitude.
In total we will be walking 80km (50 miles) over the six days, reaching the Uhuru peak at 5895m (19,336 ft) above sea level on day 4.
