My name is Kim, i am a 33 year old wife and mother of 2 and last year I was diagnosed with stage 3 bladder cancer, I had my bladder removed and replaced with a urostomy bag. I underwent 3 months of chemotherapy and as of 04/04/18 I am proud an relieved to be a cancer survivor.
When first diagnosed with bladder cancer after my initial shock, i done a lot of research and found that this particular type of cancer is rare in women, especially young woman.
I had very little knowledge or even awareness of this potentially fatal disease. This is why I have decided to organise a charity quiz night in the north end social club on 1st June 2018 to raise and promote awareness and hopefully raise money that will all be donated to Action Bladder Cancer UK (more info can be found at www.actionbladdercanceruk.org)

Bladder cancer is not a rare cancer - it is the 4th most common in men, the 7th most common in the UK overall. Over 10,300 people are diagnosed each year, around half of those will die. Despite this, there is very limited public awareness of the disease and it is a low priority on the public health agenda. Treatments have changed very little over the past 30 years and research is seriously underfunded. Bladder cancer has been called a 'Cinderella' cancer. ABC UK is dedicated to changing this and to giving bladder cancer patients a voice.
