Story

Hi everyone

Thank you for taking the time to visit my justgiving page.

I am currently training to run a marathon, yes a marathon! This is by far my biggest ever challenge. I have entered the Birmingham International Marathon on 15th October 2017. As part of my training I am also running the London 10,000 on 29th May and I’m hoping to fit in a half marathon race too (TBC). I had quite a few months out of running because of a hip injury, but now I am back fully fit and I have made a great start to my training for the marathon. I am currently up to long runs of 5.5 miles. (18.05.17)

As a huge rugby and Leicester Tigers fan, I have decided to raise money for the Matt Hampson Foundation which was set up by Matt Hampson a former England under-21 and Leicester Tigers rugby player who was injured during an England under-21 training session resulting in him being paralysed from the neck down, in 2005. He decided to set up his foundation following his life-changing injury, to enable other people to gain access to much-needed advice and support, following serious injuries or as a result of disability. Matt Hampson’s mission is to Get Busy Living and inspire others to get busy living too.

The aims of the Matt Hampson Foundation are to provide advice, support, relief and/or treatment for anyone suffering serious injury or disability which has arisen from any cause, but in particular from participation in or training for any sport, sporting activity or other form of physical education or recreation. We assist individuals by offering direct grants or by paying into existing and future funds to assist with equipment, technology or just every day expenses. In addition they offer mentoring, friendship, information and advice to individuals and their families.

Matt Hampson wanted to open a rehabilitation centre where individuals could go and receive physical rehab. His dream is becoming a reality and the Get Busy Living! Centre is under construction as I type. It will allow individuals to receive the support they need, including physiotherapy, and social interaction to share experiences, motivating and inspiring each other to move on with their lives.

Thank you for reading and for sponsoring me.

In your message, if you’d like to choose a song for me to listen to during the marathon please do! I promise I will add them all to my playlist, not matter what the song is!
