Story
Hi, :) I'm Kirsten, I'm 24 years old.
I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis on the 24th October 2018 after many a night's stay in hospital with what is thought to be 6 years at least with the condition.
During the last few years I had become very isolated and shut off from the fact that I was in my early 20's and should of been out having the time of my life... being a "young'un" and all...
My Grandad was given a flyer by a group of volunteer fundraisers one afternoon in Tesco for The MS Therapy Centre (NW) in Trafford Park in late/early 2018/19 and let me know that this organisation existed.
Since the first day I walked through the doors (which took a couple of attempts before I was brave enough to go) and accepted the fact that this lifelong condition was just a part of what makes me, me. I've been supported and encouraged by a truly amazing, crazy bunch of people who are all fighting their own health battles at the same time.
The charity run centre offers a number of different treatments including Oxygen Therapy in which I've been receiving treatment for to help with the symptoms of my MS.
This charity does not receive any government funding and what they have formed there is a community that I've had the pleasure of being welcomed into and helped by. So 'I'm going to jump out of a perfectly functioning aircraft at 11-15,000ft attached to a bit of cloth' as my Grandad would put it, in hope of giving back to the centre and the people who have already and will continue to push me to face my fears.
