I've been a member of the Junior League of London (JLL) for over 4 years - it's been important to me in London not just to make friends, but also to give back to the community.

3 years ago, the JLL started the Little Black Dress Initiative to highlight the impact of poverty. When you don't have access to resources, this impacts many other areas including confidence and access to job appropriate clothing.  This initiative helps to bring awareness to this, as well as raise funds for our work with community partners. This is my 4th year to participate and with a toddler, it is harder than ever.  Usually if you get dirt, spit up, food or mess on, it's easy to change or clean, but for some that's not an option.

We work with a variety of community partners such as:

• Smart Works who provide interview clothing and preparation to vulnerable women
• Glass Door who provide winter night shelter to those sleeping rough
• Hammersmith & Fulham Food bank who provide survival kits and food items to those in need
• Manna Centre who support homeless in London

This are just a few of the many wonderful groups that help support those in need in London.
