We help prevent homelessness in Reading to make Reading a better place for everyone

Story

On July 19th, a group of Laithwaite's Theale staff, plus friends, will be taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge to support Launchpad Reading.

We'll fly to Scotland on Thursday and get a good night's sleep ready for a bright and early start on Friday. We meet our mountain leader and get started with the highest peak, Ben Nevis, beginning the walk at 8am on Friday morning. The aim is to have the first peak in the bag by 1pm, ready for lunch on the bus back down into England.

The second peak is Skafell Pike in the Lake District which we start at 7pm, climbing into the night, torches at the ready. We should be done with Skafell by 11.30pm.

The final peak is the smallest, Snowden (in the photo above), which we start at 4am as it should be just starting to get light.  We should be done by 8am so that we've completed the challenge within 24 hours.

Will walking up the hills or the mental challenge of doing it all in 24 hours with only a few hours sleep on a bus in between be the hardest part?  You decide!  Either way please support us and our charity, Launchpad Reading, with a donation. Any amount small or large is much appreciated.

Thank you!

Lorna Benning, Libby Woolcock, Lauren Swanborough, Jim Crewe, Sarah Everden, Georgie Campbell, Colin Millar-Watt and Tim Bishop, along with ex-Laithwaite's staff members Laura Bendall (who organised the trip before leaving Laithwaite's) and Fenella McElroy.
