Story

On Sunday the 25th August 2013 we are undertaking the Lap the Lough cycle challenge around Lough Neagh, the largest lake in Ireland and Britain.  The route is roughly 85 miles starting and finishing at the Peatlands Park, Dungannon.

We are doing this challenge to raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease which is incurable.

MND is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that has a devastating impact on sufferers and their families.  The condition causes gradual, increasing disability, while leaving the mind un-damaged.

One of our colleagues father was diagnosed with Motor Nuerone Disease, in November 2011.  Ian says "this is a very rapid disease, in a short time it left my father unable to speak or eat"

Sufferers can become trapped in their bodies and even though senses may remain intact, many sufferers have mobility problems.

Approximately 5000 people in the UK are thought to have the condition in some form. MND is relentless in its grinding down both of patients and those close to them and it truly is a heart rendering disease. People are touched by it if they encounter it, but it is rare and so quick that it is difficult to raise awareness and much needed funding to carry out research for a cure and provide help to current sufferers.

We would be delighted if you could help us support this very worthy cause, MNDA Northern Ireland.
