Starting today (Monday 31st October 2016) Larraine, Elliot and Toby are going to devote as much time and energy between now and April 23rd 2017 as possible to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK. We'll be busting a gut to fundraise.  

We will be running a charity quiz night at our local (fab) pub in February, we'll be running a couple of cake stalls, Toby and Elliot will be doing a crazy long bike ride and I'll be finishing off by running (on crawling on my knees) the London Marathon in April 2017. 

I know there are a lot of worthy causes out there and I've supported a few with your help already but I need your support again - this is the big one.  This is where all the half marathons and 10k's have been leading - the London marathon for Pancreatic Cancer. 

Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate of all cancers – just 3-6% of those diagnosed survive for five years. Despite being the 12^th most common cancer in the world it has been woefully underfunded for decades.  It receives less than 2% of all cancer research funding.  On any single day 905 people across the world will die from this cancer.  Whilst survival has improved for most cancers over the last 40 years it hasn’t for pancreatic cancer.  It’s almost always diagnosed too late with most people receiving the news that they have this disease when they only have a few months left to live.  This was the case for my friend’s brother who died from pancreatic cancer in 2011.  He was young, had a very young family and had everything to live for and yet in a very few short months he was gone.   This cancer carved a massive hole in their lives that can never be filled and I will never forget what my friend and her family went through during this time.  

I've no idea if I've got a marathon in me - for sure it is going to be tough but I'm determined to do it.  Please help by supporting my fundraising efforts over coming months.
