I am raising money for the Himalayan Trust as my brother was on route to the Base Camp of Mount Everest when the recent earthquake struck. He was stuck in the mountains for a week after the tragedy and the guide he was with remained with the group despite losing his home.  The guides are paid very little and now their livelihood is also gone.

The Himalayan Trust aims to ensure everybody's basic needs are met and every child has access to an education in the remote mountainous districts of Nepal - in particular the regions surrounding Everest and Kanchenjunga.  Their projects are all requested by the mountain people of Nepal, who contribute to the projects themselves.
