Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Myself and my boyfriend Jake will be running the Birmingham half marathon on Sunday 16th October 2016, in memory of my uncle Peter who we sadly lost on 4th January 2016 to a lung condition. We have chosen to raise money for the British Lung Foundation in order to help those living with a lung condition/disease.
It all began around last Christmas when my uncle Peter found it difficult to breathe one night, which resulted him staying in hospital for a long period of time. Uncle Peter was always smiling and a bubbly character who loved cheese way too much. Even though he had difficulty breathing he still managed to crack jokes and bring a smile to the family. As his time in hospital became longer, he experienced highs and lows, like everybody. It was very difficult for our family to come to terms with Pete being in hospital because we are such a close family. Regular visits we would see his health improve and hope he would be coming home, then it would deteriorate and then improve. It was a constant emotional roller-coaster and a tough time for my family. As the weeks passed my uncles health deteriorated and he was placed into a coma. Unfortunately, his body could no longer cope and on the 4th of January we all had to say one final goodbye, which was heartbreaking.
My Uncle Peter was only 47 when he sadly passed away, 47 is no age, he was in the prime stage of his life. He was a devoted husband, loving father and an amazing family man. Pete was the life and soul of family parties and always had a cheeky smile on his face. And this is where it gets hard because it feels like a bad dream but we have to realise this is reality. Even at family parties it feels like 'he's at work' and we're all just waiting to see him walk through the door. They say it will get better with time, yeah it might, but in fact it gets harder because your not coming back Pete :(.
Please help me to support the British Lung Foundation and help those who are suffering/living with a lung condition.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and any donation made is appreciated.
Thank you,
Lauren and Jake x
