Hello Family and Friends!!!

As you all know, last year I graduated from the University of Bristol with my Msc. I recently received an email asking for applicants to promise to raise 2000GPB (about $3300) and be a part of the Bristol London Marathon team who run in support of Cancer Research.

Running has always been a passion of mine; it has helped me get through some of the most stressful and tough times in my life. Like many of you, I have known too many loved ones who have both lost and won their battles with cancer. This year has been especially tough, as my grandmother lost her battle in September.

 The more I thought about it, the more I knew this was something I wanted to do. I began to realize that there are so many who are unable to run simply because they are not healthy enough to do so. To be able to run in support of those who cannot is one of the most humbling experiences I can think to be a part of.

Why support my cause? Cancer is truly the plague of our lifetime, it does not discriminate; it transcends age and race. It is hard to believe that something positive can come from the devastation caused by cancer but perhaps the one positive consequence is the shared challenge and the human connection cancer forges among us. There is a universal will and hope for a cure to all cancer. I believe there is an advantage in uniting support across the globe.

Cancer awareness, education, and research innovations are made possible through charitable contributions. As this is my first marathon and first charity event of this magnitude I will need the love, support, and help of all of my family and friends. I also want to assure everyone that all of your generous donations will go directly to the cancer research foundation.

I hope you help me represent the Bristol University Community, my family, and all of those individuals affected by cancer, this year at the 2014 London Marathon!
