In April I will be taking part in the London marathon for the first time. I feel very privileged to have gained a space in this amazing event and to be running it in aid of The Head and Neck Cancer Foundation.
This is a wonderful charity that is focused on advancing current treatment options for people who have been diagnosed with head and neck cancer. Current surgery for this disease often leaves people with visible scars that are difficult to disguise and impact greatly their normal day to day life including eating, drinking and talking. The charity is working towards developing minimally invasive surgery that will both cure the cancer and leave people free from long term scars and the stigma that comes with them.
This is a charity very close to my heart. My dad is a head and neck cancer surgeon and he has devoted his life to treating this disease. He started this charity in the hope of increasing survival from this disease while also improving the quality of life of people who have to fight it. He has spent his career saving people's lives by operating on them and now he spends his free time trying to find new ways to help them further.
Please consider donating even a small amount to support this charity that hopes to make a big difference to the lives of those with head and neck cancer.
