Lois was the absolute love of our lives. A beautiful, clever, funny and loving child she and her baby brother, Hector, were everything to us. Tragically the age of just three and a half, Lois became seriously unwell quite suddenly with headaches and vomiting. She was admitted to hospital for emergency treatment for hydrocephalus, a dangerous build up of fluid in and around the brain. After several weeks of scans, tests and many days and nights spent in hospital we received the terrible news that Lois had an incurable brain tumour called a 'high grade glioma' and that she would be unlikely to live more than another year. The only treatment that medical science provides for the condition is conventional radiotherapy and chemotherapy that will, at best, slow the progression of the tumour for a short while. Despite bravely enduring these unpleasant interventions, just three months after she first become ill, Lois died on the 5th of December 2016.

We are raising funds with friends, colleagues and family in tribute to Lois. The money will go towards research programmes at the Institute of Cancer Research led by Professor Chris Jones that specifically look for the causes of and new treatments for paediatric high grade gliomas.
