Story
Our beautiful daughter Hope, has recently celebrated her 10th birthday and we really thank God for her life.
Back in February 2007, Hope was born with Down's Syndrome and an Atrioventricular Septal Defect (AVSD - hole in the heart). After 10 days in the Special Care Baby Unit, Hope spent her first full day at home. At 10 weeks, Hope was admitted to The Royal Brompton Hospital for a four hour operation to repair her hole in the heart. She was eventually discharged nearly three weeks later following a subsequent emergency ileostomy operation.
10 is a significant number in Hope's life and for this reason, I will be attempting to run and complete 10 official marathons this year!
We are just so immensely grateful to each of the amazing and dedicated staff team at The Royal Brompton who looked after Hope so wonderfully and all the monies raised from my 10 Marathon Challenge will be going to 'The Brompton Fountain' which is the hospital's charity to enable them to purchase a selection of much needed equipment on the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.
My first marathon takes place on Sunday 9 April in Brighton. Other marathons already confirmed are at Bewl Water (13 May), Kent Circuit (27 May) and Chelmsford (22 October), with the remainder being added in due course.
Please would you kindly consider sponsoring my 10 Marathon Challenge to help raise monies for this life-saving hospital. That will be absolutely fantastic and truly appreciated - thank you so much!
I will also update this page regularly to keep you informed as to my progress throughout the year.
Thank you ever so much for all your kind support. Every little helps!
God bless you!
Love Phil.
