I am completing the Liverpool Half Marathon to raise funds for Victim Support.

In January my friend, Stuart and his wife, Stephanie were on holiday. They were on their way home from a night out when they were the victims of a random and unprovoked attack.

Stephanie had walked ahead whilst Stuart was chatting to someone.  She was approached by a group of men, dragged off down an alley way, threatened and left alone in a place she didn't recognise.

Whilst Stuart was trying to find Stephanie, he was attacked by the same group of men. They kicked him repeatedly whilst he was on the ground, breaking his left tibia and his collar bone.

Stuart spent a month in hospital. He has had an operation on his leg and had a metal rod inserted to pin the bone together. He has also had an operation on his collar bone to repair the damage.  He has since returned to the UK and his treatment is continuing here.  He has suffered nerve damage and is facing a long, hard road to recovery.

From being a keen Marathon runner Stuart has now been reduced to using a wheelchair to get around. Never one to let circumstances get him down he is determined to complete the Liverpool Half Marathon, which he had already registered for prior to this attack and is determined to get back to full fitness.

This year Stuart will be aiming to complete the course in his wheelchair with the help of and support of myself, Stephanie and his friend, Mark. He has decided that he wants to raise money to help victims of crime as he is acutely aware of the trauma, mental and physical issues that can be caused as the result of being a victim and Victim Support is our chosen charity.

Help us to raise money for Victim Support....help give others the strength to become survivors, not victims.
