We connect, change and support minds to live with and recover from mental health

Story

Running is a bit of a passion of mine and the London Marathon has always been a goal. This year will be my third marathon to date and the aim is to beat my current record set in Vienna. It will also be on home turf so I want to enjoy this one the most and raise as much as I can for a charity close to my heart. Having not been assigned a charity I have chosen Dorset Mind.

One of the reasons I love running is that it helps to clear my mind. Our heads our precious places and often we have no control of what goes on in it.

Mental health issues are one of the main causes of illness in the world but by no means the most prominent. In the UK alone they are responsible for the largest burden of disease - 28%, sitting well above cancer and heart disease (16%).

I have my bad days like everyone else but I have never suffered acutely and my empathy goes out to anyone, especially those who I love that have. By running the marathon for Dorset Mind I hope to support making this wonderful life a happier one for anyone out there.

Thanks so much,

Louise x
