Pilgramage walk to Santiago de Compostello · 2 April 2017

ASSIST works with people in Sheffield who have been refused asylum in the UK. They are evicted from their Home Office accommodation and forced into destitution. We provide our clients with stable, dignified accommodation, regular financial support and a person-centred casework service.

Story

I am a Methodist Minister and every 7 years we are blessed with a sabbatical. I have wanted to take this pilgrimage for a little while. This sabbatical therefore is an ideal opportunity. I am walking with an amazing friend of mine Ju Sommers. No doubt we will have a few adventures on the way! It is a privilege to be able to take a pilgrimage but I am only to aware of so many people throughout the world who over the last years have had to flee from the place they called home. So I am simply hoping through this walk, to support brothers and sisters  who have found themselves as refugees in Sheffield, being helped by ASSIST, and this will hopefully just help in a small way as they try to settle and work through the red tape.
