Story

Hi from Louise and Matt, thanks for visiting our just giving page and taking the time to read about our 2021 endeavour; a 3 day 3 peaks challenge.

We feel that 2021 will be the year for new beginnings and of course, new challenges but we hope that you will be able to support us in raising money for a local centre which aims to support adults with mental health and learning disabilities. New Leaf is a Devon Partnership NHS Trust Special Charity that encourages the recovery of people with mental health conditions, improves well-being and aims to provide closer links to the community.

The centre achieves this through vocational rehabilitation activities using the in-house woodworking centre, horticultural nursery and printing department. Through teaching new skills New Leaf helps to build confidence and self esteem, allowing people to set their sights on integrating back into their community again.

Many of us will know someone who has been or is affected by a mental health condition and for most people 2020 will have been one of the toughest years we will experience in our lifetime.

It has been suggested that up to 20% of the population of England will seek help or more support for their mental health as a consequence of the pandemic. Sadly one of the most common groups to be affected most are those who are already suffering with mental health issues.

The National 3 peaks challenge will involve us climbing the 3 highest mountains in the UK, these being Snowdon, Ben Nevis and Scafell Pike! We will be climbing a total of just under 3000 meters total and trekking 26 miles overall!

We hope that you will consider supporting us in funding local Exminster based projects which will have a positive impact on the mental health of many people involved with New Leaf!!

Thanks!!
