Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As some of you know I have an under active Thyroid and sadly when my daughter Sophia was born in 2016 she was diagnosed with Congenital Hypothyroidism.
Sophia was very ill as a newborn, she wouldn’t feed and was very lethargic. We were re-admitted to hospital at 4 days old with Jaundice. Sophia had to have phototherapy and be monitored as she lost a lot of weight. She had her heel prick test and just after we were released from hospital we had the awful phone call to come back to the hospital as her blood results came back abnormal. Further tests confirmed she had congenital hypothyroidism. She was put on medication straight away. However getting her to keep her medication and feed down was a battle. Sophia has had so many blood tests and been poked and prodded but is always happy and smiley for the specialists and nurses. She eventually had a scan that confirmed she was born without a thyroid gland.
Moving forward to now and Sophia is a healthy and happy girl. She has hit all her milestones even ahead of other children and siblings at her age.
I will running the equivalent of a half marathon (illchester and back 12.4miles) on Sunday 27th May. This is because it’s world thyroid day on 25th May.
Please can I ask you help me in anyway possible by donating as much as you can even a few pounds help. I would love to see you along my run (details of the exact route will be confirmed later).
I have been in touch with The British Thyroid Foundation and will be wearing one of there t-shirts too.
