Story

Lucas was born with neuroblastoma on 20th June 2010.

The doctors knew immediately that something was wrong. He had a huge distended stomach and whilst the hospital he was born at did a great job, they just didn't know what was wrong. They reached out to other hospitals and was then rushed to intensive care at Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham. Four days later, we were told that Lucas had neuroblastoma.

He had a tumour in his liver the size of his head.

Neuroblastoma is the second most common solid tumour in childhood, affecting just under 100 children a year in Britain. And our little Lucas was one of them. Lucas then spent the next four weeks in hospital having intensive treatment which included 8 blood transfusions, lumbar puncture and of course chemotherapy.

He lost half of his bodyweight and his hair but that boy is a fighter :)

We were eventually able to bring our son home after 4 weeks but spent the next 5 years in and out of the hospital every 8 weeks to see his consultant. I will forever remember Lucas' consultant Dr Martin Hewitt- he would put his hand on my shoulder and give me that look ethat a father would give every time I saw him as if to tell me 'its going to be alright'

These days were some of the hardest days of my life and at the time i genuinely did not know what was going to happen but nothing compares to what my amazing son has gone through in defeating this horrible disease.

Lucas is 8 years old now and doing incredibly well, please dig deep and help him smash his target of £700 To help other poorly children and crown him top junior fundraiser again this year.

My World, My Miracle.

Lucas I love you x
