Story
Restless Development is championing a growing movement, led by a new generation that is more active, more connected and more able to lead the change needed than ever before. Our vision is that young people everywhere are able to demand and deliver a just and sustainable world. In the past 30 years our network of young volunteers has grown to over 17,000 people worldwide. They have trained, inspired and helped more than seven million children, young people, and community members in Africa, South Asia and the UK.
Restless Development: GOALS
1. A Voice
2. A Living
3. Sexual Rights
4. Leadership.
'If we unleash the power of young people to change our world, every generation will benefit. There are more young people in the world than ever before, their time to lead is now.'
Restless Development: In Nepal.
Young people in Nepal currently suffer from limited access to opportunities for skill development and employment, which leads to a high level of migration to other communities and countries. Restless development works in Nepal to develop life and practical skills amongst the young community to provide them with the life and practical skills they need to build the economy in which they live.
Restless Development are also expanding their programmes to focus on sexual and reproductive health rights across the communities. Nepal has one of the highest rates of child marriage in Asia, with 18% of women married by the time they are 15.
What will I be doing?
Before I head off to Nepal, I will be raising awareness for Restless Development and the work they do through fundraising and networking.
In Nepal, volunteers work with local communities, focussing on delivering sessions to young people in and out of school, touching on subjects such as livelihoods, leadership and sexual and reproductive health.
I will be living with a local family during my time there, spending my days volunteering within these communities.
