Story
The Manchester Grammar School is fundraising for the humanitarian crisis in East Africa. Members of staff from across the School are championing the cause in order to raise money and awareness. Please give generously to UNICEF to support this cause.
Across East Africa, drought, war and lack of food mean millions of children and their families are facing starvation. More than 4.5 million children are severely malnourished and need immediate life-saving food. Without this help, one in five of these children could die.
Famine has already been declared in parts of South Sudan - more than 250,000 children here are suffering from severe malnutrition. Somalia is on the brink of famine - 70,000 children here are severely malnourished. In famine conditions, four children per 10,000 die every day because of lack of food, so we must act now to save as many children's lives as possible.
More than 3 million children in Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda are struggling to survive because of lack of food and clean water. In Ethiopia nearly 300,000 children are severely malnourished; in Kenya, 100,000; and in Uganda more than 30,000 severely malnourished children. Millions of children across East Africa are in danger because they don't have the nutrition they need. UNICEF can reach them. Our workers are there right now, helping vulnerable children in the remotest areas get the life-saving food, clean water and other vital services they need to survive. UNICEF needs your help to reach every child.
