Hello everyone!
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am taking part in the Run For Diabetes 5K run in Greenwich Park on Saturday 16th June 2018. I haven’t ran since I had my children (now 4 and 2) and I am definitely NOT a cardio fan so I am really intrigued to see how I’ll get on.
I couldn’t resist doing something like this for a good cause and re-living a little bit of that nostalgia feeling from my former races. :-)
I suffered from Gestational Diabetes in both of my pregnancies and vowed to myself I’ll live a better, healthier lifestyle and have not looked back since. My dietician at QE hospital in Woolwich was fantastic - without her help and the support of the Diabetic Team, I wouldn’t have been able to control my Gestational Diabetes with just diet in my second pregnancy. My children may be at risk of developing diabetes as genetics is a large contributing factor. I want to support the good work that Young Diabetes Connections are doing for the children and families of children with diabetes in South East London.
My last race was 7 years ago in 2011. I had a personal time of 35mins for the 5K run. I’ve not been running since and have had two ankle sprains which has my left ankle with a torn ligament that’s never fully healed so we’ll see how I get on. :-) Wish me the best of luck!
