John Peaty is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and of the Royal Geographical Society. He holds a PhD and MA in War Studies from King’s College London. He is the International Secretary of the British Commission for Military History, the Chair of the Templer Committee of the Society for Army Historical Research, a Founder Member of the Royal Air Force Historical Society, a Life Member of the Institute of Historical Research, a member of the Royal United Services Institute and the Convenor of the Historical Military Mapping Group of the British Cartographic Society. He has published articles, chapters and essays and lectured widely on military history. He is an inveterate battlefield tourer. He works for the Ministry of Defence.

Barbara Taylor Mrs Barbara Taylor is a career drafts-woman, starting out in building services, mostly for hospitals, and for the first half of her working life this was on a drawing board with pen and ink. She joined the MoD, as a cartographer appointed to the team at the Army Staff College at Camberley. Since then she has drawn maps that have illustrated much of the output from Sandhurst, setting a standard for clarity. Her work includes the illustrations and maps for the British Army Guide to the Battlefields of the First World War and recent speaker, Mungo Melvin's biography of Manstein and his book on the battles of Sevastapol.  She is a member of the Battlefields Trust with a keen interest in the Wars of the Roses.

Our hosts will be the Fusiliers Museum and the event includes a sandwich lunch, a glass of wine and the opportunity to network in the exclusive surroundings of the Fusiliers mess in HM Tower of London. If you would like to attend this lunchtime talk, please make a donation of £25 for each attendee (£20 for members of the Battlefields Trust) and email your name, contact number and any special requirements (dietary/mobility) to helen.perry@battlefieldstrust.com On receipt, email confirmation will be sent together with directions to the venue.
