Story
I am undertaking this challenge in memory of my grandparents Jean and Ted Janes who sadly both died within the last nine months. They were inseparable and married for 75 years, most of that time living in Lacey Green. They were an amazing couple and achieved so much for their local community together - organising many clubs, associations and events. Included in the long list was the Happy Wanderers Walking Club, so this challenge is very apt!
To find out more about my Grandparents life and achievements, please take a look at the Obituary in the Hallmark magazine (pages 17-19).
My Grandad spent his last days being looked after at the Florence Nightingale Hospice. The staff were fantastic in the care they gave to him and the compassion to us and it meant a lot to my mum that we were able to say goodbye to him in such a peaceful and caring setting.
Florence Nightingale Hospice is more than a Hospice, and this is more than just a challenge. Completing 20 miles each day will be a mental and physical push, however it's all for an amazing cause. Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity commits to raise £1million each and every year to ensure the incredible services can continue, such as the new Hospice at Home service which ensures those wishing to remain at home can do so whilst receiving the same high standard of care they would as an inpatient. Without supporters becoming part of Team Flo and taking on challenges whilst raising funds, the Hospice services just would not continue. Every penny counts so please donate what you can and cheer us on through the miles to come!
