Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am a serving police officer of 25years and although challenging at times I am fortunate to police a relatively safe area. Like most people not just police colleagues I was appalled at the events that took place in Manchester involving Nicola and Fiona. When Bryn Hughes wanted the support of officers in 2014 to take part in the first Run to Remember 2 miles a day for 100 days I jumped at the opportunity to support such a good cause and play a small part into putting something positive back. After participating in this challenge again in 2016 I also had the opportunity to represent my force in running what was my first marathon in New York to raise money for the charity to start a pilot scheme with the National Homicide Service to get counselling to young people affected by violent crime and in doing so we raised £40,000.
The experience was amazing and the team so united that Bryn has got a lot of us and new faces entering the Paris Marathon to specifically raise money to establish a network of specialist therapy providers for a pioneering technique called EMDR (eye movement desensitisation reprocessing) that is having fantastic results in the treatment of children suffering from PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) usually when they have witnessed such terrible crimes.
I am 46 years old, married to a serving police officer and am blessed with four beautiful daughters and I again want to make them proud in trying to achieve this goal. A marathon is a journey with months of training in order to succeed.
Thank you in anticipation of supporting me and the PC Nicola Hughes Memorial Fund.
