I'm doing the Mornington Chasers Regent's Park 10k run on behalf of SOAR (Society of Orphaned Armenian Relief) that provides humanitarian relief to orphaned Armenian children and adults with disabilities throughout the world.

As a member of SOAR London chapter, I would sincerely appreciate any donations from you for this important cause. All the donations will directly go to the charity and contribute into changing disadvantaged children's life for better, giving them chance for a better future!

To understand the scale of the problem of orphanages in Armenia, and get more idea on what SOAR does, please read a brief background below: 

---------Our inspiration-----------

Poverty in Armenia is rooted in both external and internal factors, including widespread government corruption, poor state governance, an unresolved conflicts with Azerbaijan over the Karabakh territory, economic blockades by Turkey and Azerbaijan, and an outdated technological base and labor force. 

Children in Armenia are more vulnerable to the consequences of poverty than any other age or social group, resulting in increasing numbers of orphans, institutionalized children, and children living on the streets. There are nearly 1,500 children living in Armenia's 16 state- and privately-funded orphanages, and government expenditures on social services are very low and offer little in the way of a social safety net.

--------Who we support----------

SOAR supports orphaned Armenians in Armenia, Artsakh, Javakh (Georgia), Lebanon, Syria, and Turkey. It stays in regular contact with the on-site directors and maintains an updated list of needs.

SOAR provides humanitarian relief to orphaned Armenian children and adults with disabilities throughout the world. Working with a trusted network of in-country Partners and a cadre of global volunteers.

Over time, we aim to provide this underprivileged population with the tools necessary to become accomplished, educated, and self-supporting Armenians.
