This winter, as in so many other years, there are thousands of homeless people sleeping rough on our streets in the UK. It's almost unimaginable. And so important that we do not give up trying to find solutions for this. 

Social Bite have come up with a number of initiatives in recent years and this year have added to their practical support of providing meals all year round, Christmas dinners, and a training academy, with the idea of building a village for the homeless in Edinburgh in 2017.

I will be joining a number of people from across Scotland to help raise money for Social Bite by taking part in a Sleepout on the night of 15th December on the streets of the capital. 

Working for Publishing Scotland, the support body for the book publishing industry, I know how important it is to get your words and messages well publicised and 'out there' - and Social Bite have proved themselves adept at that, for a very good cause. They have raised the profile of homelessness in all sorts of ways in the past few years.
