Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The thing I remember most is the smile.

Logan was a special little boy. When I moved to my new school, St Catharine's Primary School in Scholes, last September, he was the first pupil I was told about. He was so ill and yet he continued to visit school to learn and see his friends whenever he was well enough (which wasn't as often as anyone liked).

I only met him once and it was obvious he was ill. But it's none of those tell-tale signs of cancer that I remember. It was his smile. He beamed at me like a long lost friend when Mrs Goulding introduced us. He was so pleased to be meeting his friends after school. Infact, as his family say, he was always a ray of sunshine for anyone who met him.

At that time, he was preparing for an operation that could potentially save his life. Unfortunately, at the pre-op, further complications were discovered that made that operation impossible. So terribly cruel for a 7 year-old boy, and even more devastating for the family.

I was with friends from the school when news reached them of his passing, on the 23rd December. The sense of loss and devastation was palpable, more so at such a festive time of year.

Logan was a very special boy. His family are utterly amazing people. They are holding a fundraising event on the 23rd September, raising awareness and funds for KIDSCAN - a charity dedicated to supporting treatment for children with cancer. The date of the event just happens to fall the weekend after my attempt to complete my first ever 100 mile running race, the Robin Hood 100 set, unsurprisingly, in Sherwood Forest.

Any funds that I can help to raise in memory of Logan would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for reading,
