Story
A lot of people said I was mad to start running last year at the age of 54, let alone attempting a marathon. However, with buckets of help and support, I managed to complete an adrenalin boasting first marathon in Dublin and succeeded in raising over £1,600 for Prostate Cancer UK. It was such a wonderful all round experience that I resolved to keep running. So, when the opportunity came around to run one of the world’s greatest races, the London Marathon for Action for Children I knew that I could not turn it down.
Action for Children is a charity with which I have recently become involved having joined their Scottish golf committee.
Since 1869, Action for Children has been providing protection and support for the young and vulnerable in our communities. They exist to make lives better: now, tomorrow and every day. Action for Children provides over 600 local community projects and services for people who need them including adoption & fostering services, residential care for severely disabled children and support for young carers. Their services help over 390,000 children, young carers and parents. They do great work but rely upon donations so they need your support. Please donate and support me to complete the London Marathon and more importantly support Action for Children.
