Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am organisng a charity walk to raise awareness and funds for Prostate Cancer UK. My dad passed away from Prostate Cancer - he was diagnosed in August and died on Christmas Day 1998. If he had access to tests and screening in his 40's or 50's, I am sure Dad would have lived a lot longer than his 66 years.
The startling facts are -
- 1 in 8 men will get Prostate Cancer in their lifetime
- 47,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year - that's 129 men per day
- Every 45 minutes one man dies from Prostate Cancer
- Around 400,000 men are living with and after prostate cancer
How can you help? You can join me for the walk from Chester to Warrington and raise money for Prostate Cancer. You can also walk for the charity of your choice or walk for fun/health benefits. If you choose to raise for another charity or cause or walk for fun, a small donation will be requested to take part which will go to Prostate Cancer UK.
The emphasis of the day will be on fun. It will be a tough challenge to walk for 7-8 hours (possibly longer as lots of pubs en route!), but if we can help with raising much needed funds for charities, it will be all worthwhile.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thanks for your support x
