Seafarers, who are responsible for transporting 95% of the world's goods, are frequently overlooked and forgotten about. With the fast turnaround of ship in ports, being on board for months, and increased workloads, the lives of seafarers are often tough and hard. Seafarers face long periods away from family and friends with limited or no communication for weeks on end. Welfare facilities and services both on board and ashore can be a lifeline for seafarers.

The International Seafarers’ Welfare & Assistance Network (ISWAN) works to promote the welfare of seafarers worldwide. ISWAN provide a free multilingual 24 hour helpline, SeafarerHelp, for seafarers as well as providing health information. ISWAN work with frontline welfare providers in ports and facilitate the establishment of welfare facilities and services all over the world.

ISWAN needs to raise funds to provide vital welfare services for seafarers worldwide. Seafarers UK supports ISWAN by helping to fund SeafarerHelp.
