Story
Thank you for taking a look.
I was due to run the London Marathon in 2016 but had to defer my entry due to an injury - I am now running again and back in training setting my sight on the 2017 marathon. I will be running the London Marathon for YMCA. I've been working with them for three years and want to give something back to the organisation that has invested in me. Most of all though I want to help them continue to support young people and see their lives transformed. Your donations will do just that. It will provide a bed for a young person who would otherwise be sleeping on the streets, it will provide support for someone who feels no one cares, it will provide a future for those who believed they had none.
My excitement about running the marathon has rapidly been replaced by fear as I have started to realize just what I have taken on. There are going to be many a cold, wet training runs in the next few months but your support will make each one that bit easier.
The YMCA reaches out to over 600,000 people each year, offering support when and where they need it most. It provides almost 10,000 beds for homeless young people every night and works with them to get their lives back on track through education and training.
Here are just a few examples of how the money you give could actively help a young person:
Just £15 could provide a young homeless person with a safe place to stay at a YMCA for a night.
£30 could provide a young person with the coaching, skills and confidence they need to give them the best chance of getting a job.
£80 could give a holiday to a young carer giving them a break from their burdens and worries. They can also meet others in a similar situation and enjoy some fun and freedom.
£500 could fund family mediation sessions for 3 families, helping them to work through their problems and stay together.
Thank you!
