My name is Maureen Arnott. I am of a certain age living with my family in Peterborough. Thankfully my family and I are in good health however, there are more than 100,000 people in the UK that aren't. They have been diagnosed and are living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

MS is a long-lasting disease that can affect your brain, spinal cord, and the optic nerves in your eyes. It can cause problems with vision, balance, muscle control, and other basic body functions. The effects are often different for everyone who has the disease. Since 1956, the MS Society has invested over £148 million of today’s money into the research of finding a cure and until a cure can be found for MS, The MS Society will continue to fund world-class research to make sure people with MS have the treatments and services they need.

The MS Society is just one of the many who are fighting to improve the treatments and the care to help people with MS take back control of their lives. Not only this but also to help fund the research to help beat MS for good.

In order to help with the funding for this vital research, I have decided to jump out of a plane at 8,000 feet in a tandem skydive to raise money.  The reason I have decided to do this is because of my friend and colleague Kim. Every day, whilst working for PJ Care's Eagle Wood Neurological Care Centre in Peterborough, I see Kim living with this horrible disease but going on like she is of perfect health. Whilst the rest of us are complaining and moaning, Kim is cracking on with her tasks with a smile on her face like many others who also have MS.

My fundraising goal is to raise £1000.00. The money I raise will help to fund the research that those 99,999+ people, my Kim and many others facing the dreaded diagnosis need. Please donate what you can to help find a cure for MS.
