Story

Hi! Thanks for taking the time to visit my raffle page... much appreciated! ☺️

To raise money for Bliss, I’m raffling off an 8” Cake, in your choice of design and flavour, including delivery within East Lothian! If you live outside East Lothian you can still buy tickets, you’ll just need to come to East Lothian to collect. You can choose any date you like before 31/5/19, subject to availability, and must book in atleast 2 weeks before. I’m a fully insured baker, registered with East Lothian Council and have a PASS from the EHO. ☺️

Raffle tickets are £1 each, buy as many as you like! Make sure you put your name and, and tick the box that you’re happy for me to contact you, so I can let you know if you win! Every £1 will randomly be assigned a number and the winner will be drawn on 31st May.

As some of you know we got quite a surprise in April 2016, when at 34 weeks pregnant with baby number 2, I was taken in to hospital with Pre-Eclampsia. Doctors were great, but after 5 days the decision was made that the Baby would have to be delivered at just 35 weeks. This was so scary! Would baby be ok? Would baby be able to breathe on their own? Would Baby be able to keep themselves warm? There's a huge long list of things we were scared of but I won't write them all here... you'd be here all night! 😂 We were so lucky though, and when Thomas was delivered he was a tiny but perfect 4lb 10oz, and he was able to manage on his own.

We were so lucky, and many babies born early do need a lot of extra care in Neonatal units. This is where Bliss comes in, they support research which gives us vital information about how to look after premature and sick babies. They also do a lot of work with the NHS and the government to implement new policies which improve the care and treatment babies receive whilst in hospital.

Another vital part of their work is funding and supporting parents of premature and sick babies. Often when babies need specialist care they have to be cared for in hospitals that can be hundreds of miles from their homes, meaning parents have to travel or find accommodation whilst their babies receive the care they need. Bliss helps to financially support these parents with accommodation, travel costs and childcare costs if they have other children.

Bliss also provides support to parents of premature and sicks babies, and anyone can get in touch for advice and support, they have lots of guides for parents, and a support phone line.

Like I said, we were lucky, and Thomas was healthy and ready to come home with us within a few days, but I know had we not been so lucky ours could have been a very different story, and it makes me realise just how important Bliss's work is!
