Update: 24-6-11

Well, we done it and completed the route in 2 days 22.5 hrs. Starting in Lands End at 11:10am on Sunday 19th and finishing in John O'Groats at 9:40am on Wednesday 22nd.

It was eventful, it was emotional but above all it was an amazing experience and I can't think of a better way to honour Michael.

Thanks to all the companies who helped with the costs and not least Safe Access who were amazing.

We actually had a late addition to the team in the shape of a mechanic (bike & HGV) and his skills were put to good use and he also rode for a bit too. Hats off to Chris Hughes thanks for all your help.

Thanks again for all your donations and if you know anyone who hasn't donated let them know of our feat and I’m sure they'll be so impressed that will do so immediately.

Here's the story,

Six of us will be riding our Bicycles nonstop from Lands End to John O’Groats between Sun 19 & Wed 22nd June 2011. The Riders are Peter Collins, Garry Quinn, Steven Quinn, Billy Brierly, Trefor Baker & George Rhodes and we have in support so far Sean Murphy (reserve rider) & Tom Nelson both on driving duties and we will kindly be supplied with a 28ft Motorhome by Gordon and Tina Brown from Inverness ( Safe Access Scaffolding. www.safe-access.co.uk).

We are looking to raise at least £10,000 for the Kilbryde Hospice that is soon to be built near Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride. The service provided by this hospice will be invaluable to the people of South Lanarkshire and we want to help make it happen.

We are doing this firstly to raise money but we have mainly been motivated to do this in memory of a dear friend who we lost on June 4th this year. Michael Nelson was taken from us and we will be honoured to take on this challenge in his name as nothing less would do justice to such a courageous man. He had just turned 31 when he passed and left behind his wife, Sharon and three boys Luke (8) Freddie (6) and Sam (1) and as it was his love of cycling that brought us to know and love him it seems only fitting that we honour him by taking on this mammoth ride.

As of today 6-Sep-2010, There is a lot of planning to do and lots to be raised so every penny you can spare will be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance from all the team.
