Michael's running 65 miles

Like many 2020 and the global pandemic led to me creating a new working from home routine that included coffee and plenty of chocolate treats. In November I decided that I needed to get up and get out of the house for my own mental health and to reverse some of the calories from a year in lockdown. At that time to walk 1 mile was an achievement. Over the last few months my walking has turned into a jog and I now feel confident that I can run 65 miles (roughly 104km) between now and the 65 roses National Fundraising Day on April 9th.
I wanted to motivate myself to keep exercising, but also want to give back to a charity that I feel close to. Growing up in London one of my best friends from primary school was Canice Connellan. Canice
and his sister Lisa both had Cystic Fibrosis and died in their teenage years. Canice never once complained about his own personal battle and was determined to complete his GCSE's even though he had missed lots of time at school due to his Cystic Fibrosis treatment. His positive outlook, smile, and determination to make it to school and complete his exams still motivates me many years on.
Now living in Ireland, I have the pleasure to work with a friend and colleague Scott Sorensen. Scott and his wife Sinead have two beautiful children Rian and Evan. Evan was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis and I would like to show my support for Scott and his family by raising funds for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland.
65 Roses Day is the National Fundraising Day for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland and unfortunately their collections cannot proceed on Friday 9th April due to Covid-19. This is their largest fundraising event of the year and targeted to raise 300,000 to help fund essential services needed now more than ever by people with Cystic Fibrosis in Ireland. Please help me support them by donating to my fundraising page. Your support means an incredible amount - thanks.
