Story

Hi!

I have set up this JustGiving page because I have been offered a volunteering placement from 21st June overseas in Taita Taveta, Kenya for three months with the project theme 'livelihoods' with the company VSO as part of the International Citizen Service (ICS).

ICS provides overseas volunteer placements for 18-25 year olds. It is funded by the UK government's Department For International Development (DFID) which leads the UK's work to end extreme poverty. The DFID has chosen to fund ICS because it believes in the power of young people to bring about positive change in some of the poorest communities around the world.

For my first challenge I need to fundraise £1,500. The entire experience is funded by the government however, the money that I raise will go directly to the ICS charity and will be used to keep the programme running.

I am going to be putting on various events and activities in order to raise this money.

As part of my experience I will be living in a host home and working alongside other volunteers. We will work with the community through self-help groups, running group business or cottage industries and NGO's that support self-help groups.

With Taita Taveta being vast, the placements are in four major areas which include; Wundanyi, Mwatate, Kasighau  and Voi.

Please take the time to read through and donate/ sponsor me, I would be very grateful for the opportunity to help those less fortunate and hopefully make a positive change to their lives.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. They won't send unwanted emails and won't sell on any of your details. Once you donate, the money will be sent straight to the charity.

Thanks, Mol xxx
