Our daughter Norah was born on the 24th June 2017, at nineteen minutes past one, weighing 9lb 6oz, with waxy skin and a full head of dark hair. Norah came in to the world with a shout and the grumpiest expression on her face, and in that moment, all the cliches surrounding parenting suddenly became true and our world opened up to an intense and infinite love. We promised Norah a lifetime of love and adventure, we couldn’t wait for the adventure to begin.

Norah died on the 8th July, just two weeks after our adventure began. After a week at home in a blur of feeding, changing and falling in love with our daughter, Norah stopped breathing. Despite the very best efforts of us, first responders and some of the best paediatric consultants in the country, Norah had sustained significant brain damage. Norah’s last day with us was just as her life had been, in our arms and surrounded by love.

We may not be able to give Norah the lifetime of love and adventure in the way we had imagined, but our promise to Norah is now more important than ever. We are climbing the tallest mountains in the UK, starting with Scafell Pike on the 19th May, to continue Norah's adventure, raise awareness of neonatal death, and raise some funds as a thank you to the charities that have supported us in our grief.
