Story

Now NiBS has reached twenty five years, we’re in the seat
once more. No beer or dancing, to celebrate, instead we’re opting for: Sore legs, sore bums, and saddle rash, a source of eternal pride, the epic, anniversary, endurance cycle ride.

Lochgair is our starting point, from whence our NiBS was
born. From what was Chris’s bedroom, back on that misty morn. Some twenty five years later, we will gather by the shore, don our shoes and Lycra, and start our own grand tour.

Four hundred miles, three nations too, our journey spans
them all, through mountains, lakes and ferry ports, on saddles oh so small. Extended days, and early starts, riding hour on hour, wishing all our bikes were charged with good old 'battery power'.

Not just for fun, or tales to tell, there is a cause to heed; raising money once again for BBC Children in Need. Well now you know our crazy plan, and what we dare to dream, I hereby introduce to you the wonderful NiBS team:

Chris - the boss, scout leader, archer, canoeist, already on his second bike, adds cycling to the list.

Dan - he is the wheelie king, biker extraordinaire, even on one wheel he can pass most -  it’s so unfair.

Gareth & Ellen - on just one bike, but will they share the work? Sitting on the back is no excuse for one to shirk!

Ryan - he’s new to the cycling game, but he sure has all the gear; he’s always first to cross the line, to buy us all a beer!

Rob - who sports bionic knees, our most skilled battery tester, but can he stay so long away from beloved little Chester?

Simon - whose drive and energy, will always set the pace, with the rest, shouting from behind “Hold on it’s not a race!”

Sarah & Doug - the back-up crew, in charge of food and water, setting the pace out in front in Chris’s blue transporter.

So that’s the team, and that’s our goal, we now just need donations!

So please dig deep, and help us to exceed all expectations!

(Poem Inspired by Nikki Mountford - Many Thanks!)
