We work with local Kenyan people to educate and empower vulnerable girls

Story

In the UK, it's easy to take for granted what we have - our free education, the NHS, having a roof over our heads and having a meal on the table. In parts of Kenya, this isn't such a luxury. The country still suffers from poverty in rural areas, education has to be paid for and girls are forced to marry young.

Team Kenya's vision is for every girl in Kenya to have an equal chance to achieve her potential and be free from poverty. The mission is to involve entire communities in gender equality, so that girls in rural Kenya can create their own bright futures.

I'll be cycling for 4 days, over 225km, on dirt roads, in the 30 degree heat around the edge of the Maasai Mara. I'll be sleeping under the stars and utilising the local bush as my bathroom, all whilst trying to avoid getting eaten by the local wildlife!

I'm undertaking this challenge to raise money for much needed continued funding, to ensure local communities can continue to be transformed through the education and empowerment of local girls and women.
