Story
N.B don't forget to select the 'Gift Aid' option if you live and work in the UK!
FYI, I had written a really funny and witty story here a few days ago but hit the back browser without saving and was so enraged by the loss of my literary masterpiece that I couldn't bring myself to re-write it until now so, I'm sorry but you'll have to make do with the below...
I have finally plucked up the courage to drastically
change my hair...
As many of you will know I have ridiculously long hair and almost always have done. In fact, this teamed with my aquatic obsessed past often earned me the nickname of 'mermaid'. And while, for a long time, I hoped that one morning I'd wake up having fully morphed in to the mythological creature I've now grown bored of waiting making my long flowing hair rather redundant. And so, I've decided to chop it all off while simultaneously letting go of my mermaid alter ego!
By letting go of my childhood dream I hope to in turn grant another child theirs. Because not every child is as lucky as I was, they don’t get to live in a fairytale world of make believe. Many children are forced to spend their days in hospitals instead of at school with their friends. Forced to take medicine that makes them feel sick, forced to face the cold hard reality that they have cancer. And if I can do anything to help them, I’ll do it. That’s why I have decided to donate my hair to the Little Princesses Trust. The Trust not only provide children with cancer with real hair wigs but also look toward identifying and supporting research projects that focus on finding kinder treatments for children with cancer.
I have recently lost someone very close to me from cancer and I know what a horrible illness it can be as I’m sure all too many of us do. It is what has given me the confidence to do something outside my comfort zone, seeing how hard she fought.
So please, let’s unite in fighting this horrible disease and
help me in helping a child with cancer to cope with their diagnosis and treatment.
WHEN:
The Big Chop will happen on Saturday 19th March
Thank you all for taking the time to read my story and thank you in advance for all your kind donations.
Nicola
