Story

This summer, our fearless quartet of Amanda Luther, Kerry McGraw, and Lexi and Dan Sack will be driving an ambulance from London to Mongolia to raise money for two incredible organizations as part of the 2011 Mongol Rally.

Once we arrive in Ulaanbaatar, our ambulance will be donated to a hospital in Mongolia. Emergency vehicles are a critical component of the health care system in Mongolia, where the highly dispersed population, inadequate infrastructure, and high poverty rates increase reliance on emergency care via functional ambulances. However, sturdy ambulances are sorely lacking in Mongolia today, with most being small retired Russian military jeeps.

In addition to donating the ambulance, we’re also raising money for the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation in Mongolia, and Kiva.org (more information below). All money donated via this webpage will go directly to the Christina Noble Children's Foundation.

Please join us in our efforts to make a difference by making a donation. After we depart from London on July 23rd, you will be able to follow our progress on facebook (www.facebook.com/noturningyak) as we navigate across two continents.

Thank you!

Supported Charities

Christina Noble Children’s Foundation is doing incredible work in Mongolia. The money we and other Mongol Rally participants raise will go towards supporting the Blue Skies Ger Village, which cares for abandoned kids in Ulaanbaatar. About 1/3 of Mongolians are under the age of 18, they’re the future of the country, and so your donations will help give a few more of those kids a fair shot at life!

Kiva provides funding to microfinance institutions around the globe. These microfinance institutions provide small loans to individuals to start and grow their businesses. For the world's working poor little or no access to banks, these microloans can help them create better lives for themselves and their families. Dan spent a few months on an Non-Profit Fellowship working for Kiva and has been a big fan of the place! Half of the money raised for Kiva will be used to finance microloans, while half will be donated to Kiva itself

About the charity

The Christina Noble Children's Foundation is dedicated to serving vulnerable children in Vietnam & Mongolia who are in need of emergency and long-term medical care, nutritional rehabilitation, educational opportunities, job placement and protecting those at risk of economic and sexual exploitation.
