World Land Trust

WLT is an international conservation organisation that takes action to save rainforest and other wildlife habitats. Supported by Sir David Attenborough and working with local organisations in Central and South America, Asia and Africa, WLT has helped protect over 500,000 acres of wildlife habitats.

Story

This year the Bird Race Charity Challenge (formerly the Norfolk Bird Race) are raising money for World Land Trust (WLT). The funds will aid the research and conservation of the critically endangered Blue-throated Macaw (Ara glaucogularis) via Asociacion Armonia (a WLT partner in Bolivia). The Blue-throated Macaw is a national heritage species in Bolivia where less than 300 are thought to still exist in the wild.

World Land Trust is an international conservation charity based in Halesworth, Suffolk. They work to protect some of the world’s most biodiverse and threatened habitats acre by acre.

To do this, WLT empowers local NGOs by providing finance and technical support to create and protect nature reserves, restore degraded habitats and ensure they are permanently protected.

Since 1989 World Land Trust has funded the protection of more than 500,000 acres of threatened habitat through its network of over 30 partner organisations across 20 countries.
