We fund research to stop prostate cancer killing men

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page!

Changing our starting point this year, we'll be setting off from Barnsley FC cycling 150miles over 2 days and through 2 countries.

That's long way... but what a great cause!

Prostate Cancer UK are the official long term charity partner of The Football League and this will be the fourth Football to Amsterdam Cycle Challenge. Last year's ride was hailed as a huge success with a squad of more than 200 riders helping to raise over £500,000!!!

Men United is Prostate Cancer UK’s movement for everyone who believes men are worth fighting for, and by joining Football to Amsterdam we are doing our bit to beat prostate cancer.

This year will be commercial manager Jenny and her partner Scott's third cycle challenge (gluttons for punishment)and last year they were joined by the club's safety officer, Bryan Lawton and supporters &friends Rob Stockford and Rick Wallis. "We had such a fantastic time that we've all signed up again and are ready and raring to go!!! Don't get us wrong, it's not easy going; it's an incredibly intense two days cycling over some pretty challenging terrain."

This year the team will be joined by Scott's brother Kyle Jagger placing team OAFC joint 15th in the 2016 Amsterdam League table.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, over 44,000 men are diagnosed with the disease every year - that's 120 men a day! There are over 330,000 men currently living with and after prostate cancer and one man every hour dies from this awful disease. So teaming up with Prostate Cancer UK and the Football League is a great opportunity to raise some funds and awareness for such a worthy cause.

This is where we, and indeed you, come in: our aim is to raise £6,000 to help fight this awful disease. We will be collecting through a number of channels; this JustGiving page, buckets at the ground, match day activities, local area collections, charity events and sponsorship.

Please donate whatever you can for this great cause and to see us suffer, which believe us, we will be doing...

Thank you so much, it genuinely does mean a lot!

Bryan, Jenny, Kyle, Rob, Rick & Scott :)
