I'm an outdoor instructor trainer and in my job I get to see young people from all walks of life experience outdoor adventures and enjoy the benefits that outdoor education and fun can bring. It's an amazing job that makes me feel like I can make a positive impact on the world through the people around me but it definitely has some hard moments. Chief amongst these are seeing just how many young people are negatively affected and unsupported with issues regarding the state of their mental health and wellbeing. 

In the modern world, where we are bombarded with so much information everyday, it strikes me as odd that the mental health issues affecting young people aren't well known or well discussed. I believe that the awareness and the support of young peoples mental health are paramount. 

As the world grows more aware of conservation efforts and the impact it we have on our environment so too should we pay attention to the mental health of our planet. It's everyone's responsibility to make sure that young people everywhere have the opportunity to be the best, most supported, version of themselves. It's with this in mind that on the 24th of March I will be running, raising money, and raising awareness, with great passion, for YoungMinds.
