Hi,

My name is Oliver Coleman, at the age of 8 my mum (Maggie) told me that she had Leukaemia, I asked her “can the doctors fix it”?  sadly after a three year battle she passed away the day after my 12th Birthday.

During the three years my brother and Dad have raised lots of money for the charity Bloodwise who supported us as a family throughout. Bloodwise are a charity who raise funds to support families who have been in my position and a charity who fund trials to fight against all forms of blood cancer. My mum was fortunate enough to take part in one of those trials, by taking part in the trial it gave us as a family a couple of extra years to make the most of the time we spent together, memories that will stay with me forever. 

I still think of my mum everyday, when things get tough for me I always think how ever tough this is right now, it will never be as tough as my mum was throughout her fight against the cancer. 

Now that I’m slightly older I’ve decide that it’s about time that I did something too raise awareness and raise a little cash for the charity, so that families who are in the position that I was a few years ago can benefit form their support. 

So my challenge is to do a Sprint Triathlon which is a 400m swim, 22km bike ride and 5km run.   To help me I’ve asked my dad to do it with me, this has now turned into a challenge as he is taking it far to serious, my aim his to show him that youth will win.
