In 2016 my dad (step-dad), Terry Robinson passed away due to Cancer and the Hospice did such an amazing job of looking after him right up until the time he passed away. I was blown away by the level of care towards him. Unfortunately, Cancer is part of all of our lives and there have been so many losses over the past few years within my friends and family that I felt that I needed to challenge myself and raise some money for this amazing organisation.

I am a keen surfer and love to swim and wanted to do something that was related - hence the prone paddle board. You can paddle this lying down or on your knees and I felt that having my head up I wouldn't get too bored! So I then set myself the challenge to become the first person to circumnavigate the Isle of Wight on a prone paddle board.

As I write this (23/5/18) I have just finished a campaign for a plastic free island and we paddled in stages around the Island over 3 days. We camped under the stars and paddled each day. I can say from this experience to do in one go, on my own is going to be a real challenge.

The plan is to attempt this challenge at the end of September when I can gauge the weather and predict the tidal challenges in greater detail. There will be a facebook page 'Paddle4Hospice' for people to follow my progress and get updates on the start date/time.

I would like to finish and say that I think most of us have a connection to the hospice on the Island and if you feel like you would like to get behind me and donate then I can guarantee you nothing more than I am going to do my best to train hard to enable me to achieve my goal but set a time for other people to challenge in the future.
