1 year ago this month my wife Jane was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer. After a major operation at Leeds General Infirmary it was then to be that weekly chemo sessions would take place at Halifax Calderdale Royal Hospital. Over a period of 18 weeks the staff at the Macmillan ward in Halifax supported us through out and turned an experience that should have been a sad and scary time into a fantastic meeting place for patients and families to meet new friends.The weekly sessions lasted for most of the day but in the friendly atmosphere it was easier to forget the reason you were there.

Over the last 12 months friends and family have thrown theirselves into raising funds for this great cause by holding different events. We have had charity race nights, market stalls, raffles, garden parties, sponsored head shaves, fancy dress walks and other various events but feel the next event deserved more stamina!! So far we have raised over £6500 for the ward and with it we have been able to buy new TV's, Ipads, DVD players & DVD's as well as other homeware items. We would like to take the opportunity to say a massive thank you to everyone who has helped us along the road to recovery so far with all donations and support, with out you the money raised would not have been this much.

Our big event this year is the coast to coast bike ride - way of the roses. Starting at Morcombe and cycling all the way to Bridlington a group of us are facing this challenge in June. It will be a tough 3 days as we cycle up, down and around from one side to the other to raise money for Macmillan. For more information please visit the below:

Macmillan have supported us through the last year and continue to do so now Jane has gone into remission. I am sure that nearly everyone who visits this site will know of someone who has been or is currently going through the same unfortunate experience and will also understand how the work of Macmillan touches us all. With out them the last year would have been a very confusing and horrific time.

So I ask once more of my family, friends, co-workers and everyone else who can, to reach out and make a small donation for this fantastic cause!!
