Event: Pedalling For Pubs 2022, from 10 March 2022 to 15 March 2022
Taking on all weather conditions, tricky terrain and long distances 'Pedalling For Pubs' aims to raise money and support those who work in the pub and hospitality industry via the great work from 'The Licensed Trade Charity' & 'Only a Pavement Away'.

Story

Oh Christ, nearly 3 years ago I said yes to Katy Moses of KAM Media at the BII lunch to taking part in a 'small' charity cycle ride and for one reason or another (mainly 1 and thats COVID) it's taken us nearly 3 years to get there.

I'm sure by now most of you reading this will have heard about the 'mad', sorry I mean Charity Bike ride across Jordan, covering 335km in the heat and over rocky terrain !!

well, that ride is now 10 days away, and the training hasn't gone well so far, hindered by some surgery to my knee in December and an Achilles problem 2 weeks ago...

BUT, come hell or high water (and with sore knee and achilles) I will be part of a fantastic group of 27 legends (some more legend than others like me 😂) taking on this challenge.

We have raised just a little short of £200,000 for two charities that have given so much to our industry over the last 2 years and this money will allow them to do so much more.

All of the money raised by the riders will provide vital funds for Only A Pavement Away and the Licensed Trade Charity along with the kind donations of our sponsors: Punch Pubs & Co, Greene King, Wireless Social, Molson Coors Beverage Company, Lucky Saint, Barclaycard Business, The Caterer and Sky

Thank you to the people who have already sponsored me (I have made a contribution to cover the costs of getting me there and back, so all money raised goes to the charities) but it would be great to help exceed the target set by the group,. so if you can help please click on the link below and donate anything you can.

Thanks for taking the time to read this...

Original post dated April 2019

I said yes to a very persuasive lady at an industry lunch in 2019 and after not riding for 6 years (the 2013 London to Brighton bike ride) I find that I'm now taking on all weather conditions, tricky terrain and long distances. 'Pedalling For Pubs' aims to raise money and support those who work in the pub and hospitality industry via the great work from 'The Licensed Trade Charity' and 'Only a Pavement Away'.

These are two fantastic charities and worth dusting the bike down, and of course all of the pain ahead of getting ready for the distance and heat of Jordan.

This bike ride for these two great charities was due too take place in June 2020 but was postponed due to COVID.19. Now more than ever before the charities need funds to change people's lives and Only A pavement Away is seeing ex hospitality people now homeless after losing their roles during the various lockdowns when their venues closed.

My own personal donation of £1,500 will cover the costs for my part of the trip, so every penny you donate will go to these two charities.

Thanks for taking the time to read this fundraising story.
